im possibly getting one for my graduation gift and l would like to no the good and bads to it....

Im biased towards Jeep myself, but here goes. With the standard cherokee is (XJ) it is a good dependable vehicle that has excellent offroad capabilities while still offering a good onroad feel. Comfortable & solid over time. Cons would include, keep the tranny oil changed, flush the coolant regularly, & keep up ur regular maintenance. Not the best fuel mileage, but decent for a heavy vehicle. The 4.0 motor is mostly bulletproof, but as always keep the oil changed & maintain it. The Grand Cherokees r also a good ride, the same 4.0 motor with also a V8 option. My wife is Grand has been a good vehicle & Im pleased with the service ive had out of all of our Jeep's. they are great my cousin has one with 118,000miles and he beats the crap out of it and still runs like new. my dads friend has 285,000miles on his cherokee and has yet to have any major problems.

They r alright vehicles. They have a few pattern failures that seem to inflict them all such as, crankshaft sensor & computer(ECM) failures later in life. Really the most important thing is do not think that because it is 4 wheel drive that driving it off road will not seriously add wear to the vehicle. For all of them that u see running around out 4x4ing there is somebody in them paying to fix them constantly. This goes for pretty much any vehicle though.
Drive it like it is yours & ur only one & it should last u just fine. Many women like the way that they ride as they do have a petty nice on road feel, but to me they r a little sway bound.

well good it has a solid front and rear axles thatsreal good. from what l hear Jeep Cherokees last a long time.
