l really do not understand when it is suppposed to be used.

just leave it on..90% of cars you cant even turn it off and on.. Put it in D drive and forget it

Overdrive should be used anytime you are doing normal driving. If you are pulling a trailer, going up a steep hill, or driving in dirt, You should turn overdrive off. If you are on the freeway, in city driving, And NOT pulling a trailer, then you need to leave the overdrive ON. l hope this your question. Oh one more thing. If you ever get stuck in the snow or mud you will need to turn Overdrive off. Good luck

if you are going to be on roads with alot of turns and hills.keep your overdrive off.will keep your jeep from shifting too much.also when it snows out you dont want to use it.will shift out of overdrive when you dont want it to and could cause you to spin out.
